It was in 1989, when I was fitting a heelcap and wondering what to do with all the little extra pieces from the back inlay, that the idea came to me to glue them all together and use them for the heelcap. It worked beautifully, so I obtained a design patent and now do it as a standard feature on all my guitars.
If requested, I can still fit the traditional Ebony, Bone or Rosewood heelcaps.
